University of Manitoba
canada
Biography
Arkady Major received his BSc in engineering physics from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 1997 and MSc in laser physics and nonlinear optics from Vilnius University in 1999, both in Lithuania. In 2002 he got the PhD in laser physics from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. After this Dr. Major was as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto (2002 – 2007) where he worked on various nonlinear optical spectroscopy and laser microscopy projects. Dr. Major joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Manitoba in 2007 where he is now an Associate Professor.
Research Interest
Major’s current research interests are in laser photonics and biophotonics. In particular, his efforts are focused on development of advanced laser sources and optical laser technologies for multiphoton imaging and spectroscopy of biological and other systems.
